Job Time: How to Start, Pause, Resume, and End Job Time

How to time your work on a job, including breaks for materials or waiting.

Run a job timer in four simple steps. Everything happens on the Job Time Log tab of the job.

Start Job Time

  1. Open the job and click the Job Time Log tab.

  2. Find the timer card at the top. When no timer is running, it says Start new time above 00:00:00. Click the start button on that card.

The timer starts counting. WIZniche saves who started it, which job it's for, the date, and the start time.

Pause

  1. Click Pause when work stops for a while, like when you leave to pick up materials.

  2. The Pause job time panel opens and tells you the clock stops until you resume.

  3. Pick a reason if you want to: Material Run, Customer Delay, Waiting, Break, or Other. The reason is optional.

  4. Click Pause.

Paused time is saved separately from worked time, so it is never billed as labor.

Resume

Click Resume when work starts again. The same timer keeps going. You can pause and resume as many times as you need.

End Time

Click End time when you're finished. WIZniche adds up your job time and your paused time and saves the entry in the Job Time Log.

Ending your time does not mark the job complete. Change the job's status separately when the work is done.

What You'll See at Each Step

  • Not started: The timer reads 00:00:00 and says Start new time.

  • Running: The card says Time on this job and the timer counts up. You can Pause or End time.

  • Paused: The timer holds still. You can Resume or End time.

  • Ended: The entry is saved in the Job Time Log.

An Example

Jessica works on a job from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM:

  • 8:00 AM: Starts the timer.

  • 9:30 AM: Pauses for a Material Run.

  • 10:00 AM: Resumes.

  • 11:15 AM: Pauses.

  • 11:45 AM: Resumes.

  • 1:00 PM: Ends the timer.

From start to end is 5 hours. She was paused for 1 hour total (two 30-minute pauses). Her job time is 4 hours.

Working as a Team

Every team member on the job has their own timer. One person pausing doesn't pause anyone else.
