Job time doesn't stay on the job. It also shows up in Timesheets and in Job Costing, so your hours and your labor costs always match.
In Timesheets
Click Timesheet in the sidebar and open an employee's day. Under their daily record, you'll see their job time right alongside Clock In, Break, and Clock Out. Each job entry shows the job number, the customer, the start and end time, and the time worked.
Example: Jessica's day on October 2:
Clock In: 7:45 AM
Job #12091: 8:00 AM to 10:15 AM, 2 hr 15 min
Job #12104: 10:45 AM to 12:30 PM, 1 hr 45 min
Break: 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM
Job #12118: 1:00 PM to 4:15 PM, 3 hr 15 min
Clock Out: 4:30 PM
Her clock in and clock out times stay exactly as she recorded them. Job time is simply the detail underneath.
In Job Costing
Job time feeds the labor part of Job Costing. For each team member:
Labor cost = job time × the employee's labor rate
Example: A technician's labor rate is $32 an hour and they logged 4.5 hours on a job. The labor cost for that job is $144.
Paused time is saved separately from worked time, so it is never counted as labor. You only pay for the time your team actually worked.
Open the Job Costing tab on the job to compare your labor cost with the money the job brings in. See Job: Understanding Job Costing.
