Project: What Is a Project?

One place to see every quote, job, invoice, and task for a big piece of work.

A project brings all the work for one big job into one place. Every assessment, quote, job, task, and invoice you link to it feeds the project's money totals and progress bar automatically.

Why Use Projects

  • Everything in one place: No more searching five different lists to see where a job stands.

  • Money tracks itself: Contract price, change orders, paid, and remaining update on their own. Nobody has to type them in.

  • Progress shows itself: The progress bar fills up as your team finishes jobs and tasks.

  • Customers can follow along: They see their own project in Client Hub.

Example: A homeowner hires you for a full kitchen remodel. That one project has an assessment, two quotes, three jobs, and four invoices. Instead of hunting through five lists, you open the project and see all of it.

How a Project Works

  1. Create the project with the customer, property, and project lead.

  2. Link your work to it: assessments, quotes, jobs, tasks, and invoices. Anything you convert along the way, like a quote into a job and then into an invoice, keeps the project link.

  3. The first quote your customer approves becomes the contract price. Quotes approved after that become change orders.

  4. Payments on the project's invoices count as paid.

  5. As jobs and tasks get completed, the progress bar moves toward 100%.

Where to Find Projects

Click the three-line menu to open the sidebar, then click Projects. Projects is an add-on, so it needs to be turned on for your account first. See Project: Turning On Projects and Setting Permissions.
